Director Gary Ross is currently in North Carolina shooting the first scenes for his upcoming adaptation The Hunger Games, which is based on Suzanne Collins's best selling novel. New photos have arrived from District 12's the Reaping, in which Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) sacrifices herself to The Hunger Games in order to save her sister Primrose (Willow Shields). Both are pictured in costume, along with Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne, Mackenzie Lintz as a District 8 tribute, and author Suzanne Collins suited up for a cameo. The Hunger Games comes to theaters March 23rd, 2012 and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, John C. Reilly, Wes Bentley, Leven Rambin, Willow Shields. The film is directed by Gary Ross.
